Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend  Next Entry
and so the saga continues...

Well, a quick update from the other day...

Kelly and I had a gig saturday, which started very "don't touch me" and ended with her relaxing enough to talk friendly-like, much more as things were only a few days before.  Her back and feet were hurting, so when we got back to her place I rubbed them both, enjoyed sweet, pleasant (tho guarded) conversation, then left.  We had many emails between friday and monday, all about how I"ve disappointed her, she doesn't trust that I can take care of myself and that tho she hasn't completely closed the door on me as a friend, if a guy she found appealing and had his act together approached her, she wouldn't say no.  Nice, huh?  Then no contact for seeral days thil she emailed me to see how the jobhunt was going on wednesday - since then, some brief emails back and forth, lighthearted and stress-free.

So, in a daze, I've been spending about 10-12 hours a day answering job ads.  May have found one or two interesting ones - don't wanna elaborate until they're done or dun.  I've been going to CODA meetings all but one night this week and looking at life post-failure.  I will not allow this to happen to me again.  One grant came through and I'm waiting for word from the other one now.

I MAY be scoring a movie that's being shot in South Dakota right now - won't know till the end of the month.  If it happens, I'll have to figure out how to do it while keeping the job (whichever one it is).  Even tho I've probably lost Kelly, I still want to get the thing that broke us apart - STABILITY.

Looks like I didn't get the McDonald's commercial where I played spoons for a new burger being perpetrated on the French and Germans - yah, my cartoon life still makes occasional appearances, however faded and rusty.

LATE BREAKING NEWS:  I AM EMPLOYED.   The place is a start-up.  It is, for lack of a better description, an agency for a group of Forensic Experts.  Lawyers hire them for whatever case.  I call the lawyers to let them know about the service.  It doesn't pay tons, but since it's the owner/psychotherapist and me, if we make it work, it can be very lucrative.  Lawyers need these people anyway and I'm calling them about specific cases.  The job is five blocks from my house, so,... I'm taking it.  Still hitting an interview on monday to make inkydinky sure, however it's probably a waste of time.

Now to make it work F-A-S-T and get my life/stuff/self-respect/girl back.

In your off time, and after a good bottle of wine, I envision your creation of the newest Milton Bradley board game based on your cartoon life. Game pieces could be fashioned after your coffeehouse montage with a game board that leads you down the 405 from Kulak's to (RIP) Diedrich's.

YOU decide what it takes to win. Focus. Now, go for it!

You will beat this, my friend.

You are forgiven!

HAHA! That board game idea is funny - I have a friend named Rory that a bunch of us were going to make a board versio of his life, where he gets from San Diego to San Francisco on one gallon of gas and five dollars. Based on a real story. He was that kinda guy.

I'm actually excited about this new job - it's a start-up, so there's some risk, but the potential is really big and it's so close to home, that my car can relax. I'm freakin relieved that there's a new place to go to - this last week has been the worst week of the year, which says alot, since this year has been absolutely horrible.

Debating whether to tell Kelly (if she emails me) about the job or wait till I'm in it a few days next week.

You can kill two birds with one stone - walk to work for the best medicine in the world for hard times: exercise endorphins, and save gas while you're at it! Fab!

The other bonus is getting your mind off of the major stuff. It will magically remain waiting for you at the end of your workday, but it will feel GOOD to put your mind on other things for a few hours. Sometimes we think we won't be able to concentrate on other tasks when we're going through crap, yet, it's the reprieve our minds need to keep balanced. You'll gain better perspective on all avenues when you can shift your focus away for awhile.

You shall conquer and divide!

yah - the major stuff is pretty awful and getting awfuller by the day. I'm looking forward to the new job. Chances are I'll have lots of money since there won't be a gurlie to spend it on.

by the way, I'm playing at Kulaks' on friday - a songwriter in the round thing with three other writers - tune in if'n you and the mister are at home! starts at 8 PM.

What?! I can't let my public think I could possibly be home on a Friday night! My reputation! My fans! My, my, my...well, my something. If it wasn't gridlock from here to the valley on a Friday night, we'd be there for the real-time sweat. That's the other free psychotherapy - the music. It's one of the best drugs in the world....
