Kulak's Tonite!
On the way out the door to Kulak's , which has the funnest open mic in Los Angeles. They webcast two hours of the thing, from 8-10 PM Cali time. If teevee has numbed you, click on

http://www.kulakswoodshed.com

tonite and see an assortment of real good and some real bizarre performers. I'm gonna play my new song "The Truth Gets Done" aided by my friend Laura and the mighty SK-1's. You can hear a rough mix of the studio version on my music page

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=228936

and HEY! Tonite MAY be the night I'm on MTV on that "reality" show "There And Back" at 10:30 PM. Playing Slinky, of course!

Won't be able to catch the webcast because Paul will be using the computer to program some new-fangled thingamadingy for work, BUT, now that we're sucked into Ashley's Weekly Adventures, in the hopes of seeing Slinky and Friend, I'll be tuning into that for sure.

Hope Mic Night ROCKS!

Paul's at another location programming, so I am catching the webcast, though Stuart, I might have already missed yours and Laura's performance. I'm just excited that since we have broadband the broadcast is 100% better then the old dial-up! Simple pleasures..

I saw a magazine this weekend at Barnes & Noble called "Make." You may be interested in it for two reasons. 1. How to make a guitar from wood, strings, random stuff and a cigar box. 2. How to hack and modify the SK-1.

Make it a workshop!

People already offer that class for $1500 !!! I will definitely check out Make magazine - what mag section was it in? Midget porn? I was going to spend time in that section anyway,so...

I'ma gonna get me some bright highschool geeks who know their transistors from their cpacitors and pay them slave labor to make these things evil.

Hey! I used BOTH last night at Kulak's !

Midget Porn.......

It was over in the Computer type magazines. It's not quite magazine size. More like a paperback book.

How did the SK-1s sound?

First, let me tell you BROADBAND ROCKS! Finally taking the plunge from dial-up to broadband is revolutionary!

So, after a short 40 second download I finally got to see the performances from Kulak's on open mic night. A perfect coffee-sippin'-morning-wake-up after my marathon work day yesterday.

Stuart, NEVER give up performing live - your emotion and flair come through so beautifully enhancing great music into a perfectly-wrapped package! So much so I'd be inspired to wear the bow from the package proudly smack in the middle of my forehead!

oh, poo. Thanks Lisa. I'm glad you enjoy my silliness. Laura is way cool too, huh? She's my church buddy. Totally alive person.

I wish there were a way to set up a virtual-world version of Kulak's so everyone could actually beam themselves there - it's becoming the center of the universe! Which is sad for me, since in late february I start a ten-week monday night residency at Gordon Biersch. I will miss it terribly.

Forget the virtual world business, I am going to be selfish and wish for a Kulak's here in Orange County so I can hang out, become a part of the decor and conquer world peace.

Laura is way cool! It's good to surround yourself with aliveness!

Though you'll miss open mic-night, and they'll miss you, think of the happy Monday night brewski fans who will create their own open mic with you once they've had one too many!

Yah - Gordon Biersch is one of my favorite places to play - they let me do what I want and they're in Burbank, so entertainment people show from time to time. And they haven't met the HUMP there yet, so all will swoon to their doom. Now I have to motorize the groupies somehow. Oh, the plans I have for them...

Boy, I wish Paul could open a Kulak's everywhere! It's hugely expensive and he's had myriad zoning troubles from a jerk next door neighbor. It's created a dedicated base of supporters, tho, so he's safe there for now. How he keeps the place going is beyond me. It's all done by donation. He's getting very well-known performers coming through too.

The girls have arrived in Avatar size! (however the heck you do that cuz I have no clue - hence the same tweaked out guitar player)

Motorizing the girls brings a whole new definition to the term "plastic surgery"

THAT is halarious! It's obvious that behind closed doors Carlos has begun a dictatorship. I'd take the door off the hinges. It's true he can't be trusted.

But we knew this

And we come back for more

INDEED. Sandy has done this for some of the other performers there, too - she's building quite a fan club!

Close the place down and move out, it is a scam and people rob the good neighbors of their rightful parking so Paul Ashley Kulak can make a buck, no performers get paid and they have to buy the DVD of their music on top of forced to give donations, don't believe the hype.
